Chandigarh is the Union Territory that serves as the capital of two states namely Punjab and Haryana. As Chandigarh is a Union Territory administered by the federal government, the Governor of Punjab is the Administrator of Chandigarh. The name of the city is derived from ‘Chandi Mandir,’ the temple of Goddess ‘Chandi’. It literally means ‘The Fort of Goddess Chandi’. The city is also called as ‘The City Beautiful’. Chandigarh maintains a high standard of living and is also known for its high literacy rate that is 97%. It also has a well developed and settled infrastructure for business market and banks. The city’s next venture is Chandigarh IT Park also called as Chandigarh Technology Park which is its next attempt to enter the IT world. Along with technological improvement, Chandigarh has improved in the tourism industry as well. The most important unusual feature of Chandigarh is the famous Rock Garden of Chandigarh that was built 30 years ago. Other famous tourist spots are 'The Rose Garden' in Sector 16, and 'Sukhana Lake' in Sector 6.
