Manipur is situated in the North Eastern part of India. The state also borders Myanmar which is its neighboring country. The state was called ‘Switzerland of India’ by Lord Irwin. Imphal is the capital of the state. The official languages of the state are Manipuri and Meithei. The Meiteis are the ethnic group of Manipur. The state is considered a critical border area as it has ways to enter into the country. For the same reason, foreigners entering into Manipur should possess a restricted area permit. There are also other similar legal formalities that need to be taken care of. An interesting fact about the state is that the origin of the Polo game was from Manipur.
