Maharashtra is the Indian state located in the Western part of the country in the coastline of the Arabian Sea. This is the second largest state by area and the third largest state by population. Mumbai (earlier called as Bombay) is the capital of the state. It is also a point to be noted that Mumbai is the country’s second largest city. Maharashtra is one of the India’s leading industrial states that is contributing 13% of the nation’s industrial output. The tourism industry of the state is also well developed because of the vast number of scenic spots it has. A number of wildlife sanctuaries and National parks are found in the state. The state has a total of 5 National parks spread throughout the state. Beaches and historical forts are also the state’s assets.
