Madhya Pradesh is the Indian state located in the central part of India. The name of the state as well means the same ‘Madhya’ – Central ‘Pradesh’ – State. It was the largest state until 1st November 2000 when Chattisgarh was declared a separate state. Narmada and Tapti are the major rivers running across the state. The major crops of the state are soyabean, grams, pulses and oil seeds. Hindi is the official language of the state though Marathi is spoken by a substantial number of people. Madhya Pradesh is a state well known for Khajuraho group monuments, Buddhist monuments and the Rock shelters of Bhimbetka. These three sites in the state are declared as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The natural setup of the state has paved way for the creation of a number of National Parks.
