Gujarat attained its statehood in the year 1960. Gandhinagar is the capital of Gujarat which is also the native place of Mahatma Gandhi. Gujarat is the second most industrialized state in India. The economy of the state shows that it is the most prosperous states of the country. It is on the border of the neighboring country Pakistan. The state has Arabian Sea in the West and Pakistan in the South. Narmada, Sabarmati and Mahi are the three major rivers that flow across the state. Gujarat specializes and ranks first nationwide in generation of gas based thermal electricity. Gujarat is the only natural habitat of lions, besides Africa. The four famous National parks Gir Forest National Park, Blackbuck National Park, Vansda National Park, and Marine National Park are also in Gujarat.
