In terms of area, Goa is the smallest state in India. Goa is located in the West coast of India with Maharashtra in the North and Karnataka in the East and South. Panaji is the capital of this state. Goa was first invaded by the Portuguese. Though various Indian literatures give a different explanation about the origin of the name ‘Goa’, none of the explanations are precise. The specialty of Goa is its world famous beaches that drive millions of foreign tourists to India. Goa is also well known for its world heritage architecture and its cathedrals. Goa is listed as one among the international vacation centers. On the rural side, it also has a number of villages that cultivate coconuts, bamboos, and fruits that include jackfruits, mangos, pineapples and blackberries.
